How to Use the Science Key Terms Practice Video Lessons

Here’s an example in 3 steps of how to use these Edpuzzle Originals video lessons with your middle schoolers:

  1. A teacher presents a lesson on a key science concept from middle school science, like this one on Weathering:

Students complete this activity in class, with the teacher’s support. Once students finish, the teacher checks their scores to see how well they have initially understood the concept.

  1. The next day, the teacher assigns the associated Key Terms Practice lesson, Weathering: Practice.

Students need less support to complete this assignment, because student work on the original Key Terms lesson scaffolded the students directly into the Practice lesson!

  1. Students complete the Key Terms Practice lesson using the knowledge they gained from the original Key Terms lesson. Teachers monitor student progress on both lessons to see how well students understood and retained the original material in order to inform their teaching plans.

After students complete the Weathering: Practice lesson, the teacher analyzes students’ scores, comparing their work on the original and practice lessons. Using this information, the teacher can determine which students are ready to move on to the next lesson on erosion, and which need more review of weathering.

There’s a Key Terms Practice lesson for virtually every key science term. Find more examples of video lessons from the series below!
