Free Video Lessons for Constitution Day
Constitution Day takes place every year on September 17th, the anniversary of its signing. Celebrate this historic event with some free video lessons for your students!

This year marks the 235th anniversary of the signing of the U.S. Constitution on September 17, 1787.
It might be hard for students to relate to this historic anniversary, but the Constitution is a living document! The most recent change to the Constitution was the 27th Amendment, which took place just 30 years ago, in 1992.

The U.S. Constitution Video Lesson for Grades 6-12
In this video lesson, students will be able to explain the structure and function of the US government by analyzing each part of the U.S. Constitution.
Students will explore the different articles of the Constitution including how they relate to the three branches of government, the role of the states, and the amendment process.
The Preamble Video Lesson for Grades 6-12
This video lesson teaches students the purposes of government through analysis of the Preamble to the U.S. Constitution.
The Preamble includes six purposes for the constitutional government of the U.S. and identifies “We the People” as the group responsible for establishing the Constitution. At the time, this only included property-owning white men.
