These student project ideas for summer vacation are all great ways for letting your students become the teachers in projects that don’t feel at all like “work.”

All you have to do is create a student project assignment in Edpuzzle, and then your students will take the reins and record their own amazing videos. Take a look at this list of ideas to get started!

1. Make a Virtual Travel Guide

Summer is peak travel time, so why not have your students share their travels through a virtual travel guide?

Ask your students to model their video after a travel show or YouTube video they like, and them have them record a video showing the highlights and sharing travel tips.

If students aren’t traveling, they can research their dream destination and do a screen recording walking their peers through a virtual trip!

2. Record a Science Experiment at Home

For all those budding scientists, ask them to put on their lab coats and record their own experiment! Have them perform a simple experiment with household materials, record each step, and explain their results.

3. Interview a Historical Figure

Social studies teachers can ask students to choose a famous a historical figure to interview. Then they can do some research, prepare interview questions, and conduct a mock video interview, where they can play both roles or do some partner work with another student.

4. Share a Healthy Cooking Recipe

Have your students share their favorite summer foods in a video with this great ice-breaker for coming back to school after summer break! Ask students to record themselves preparing a delicious, healthy recipe and giving advice on nutrition and healthy eating habits.

An alternative to the cooking show idea is teaching an arts and crafts technique, filming each step of the process and sharing tips for creating a work of art.
